We loved how Charles took us to the most important places of Kuala Lumpur, showing us new fruits and herbs, showing the old and new town, showing the temples and last but not least the majestic skyscrapers. We hebben een fantastische sunset fietstour gedaan met Mike Bikes in Kuala Lumpur! (Het heet zo omdat het in de avond is, maar je gaat niet naar een zonsondergang kijken wat wij eigenlijk dachten) Toch was het een super fijne ervaring! Onze gidsen Barry en Tey waren ontzettend vriendelijk en zorgden voor een relaxte en gezellige sfeer. Ze gaven onderweg leuke en duidelijke uitleg en hielden goed rekening met het tempo van de groep. Ze hielpen ons veilig door het verkeer van Kuala Lumpur heen!

De tour is perfect opgebouwd met genoeg afwisseling en pauzes. Je komt langs bekende plekken zoals de Petronas Twin Towers, een mooie brug over de rivier en verschillende sfeervolle buurten. Het was echt leuk om op deze manier veel van de stad te zien zonder dat het te druk of vermoeiend werd, precies goed verdeeld. Een geweldige tour als je maar 1 dag in Kuala Lumpur verblijft.

Onderweg kregen we twee flesjes water, maar een handige tip is om zelf een hervulbare fles mee te nemen. Bij het watertappunt kun je namelijk makkelijk je eigen fles met lekker koud water bijvullen. Rond 19:00 stopten we nog voor een heerlijke Indiase maaltijd, uitgebreid, goed verzorgd en erg lekker! Vooral de naan met kaas viel goed in de smaak bij de kaaskoppen uit Nederland.

Deze tour is een ideale manier om in korte tijd veel van Kuala Lumpur te ontdekken. Lekker actief bezig zijn, interessante stops, en een fijne sfeer dankzij de enthousiaste gidsen.

De vier uur durende fietstocht onder begeleiding van onze gids Charles was een hoogtepunt van onze reis. Charles was vriendelijk, goed geïnformeerd en had alles perfect onder controle – van de route tot het tempo en de fotomomenten.

We fietsten langs de bezienswaardigheden, verborgen pareltjes en kregen tussendoor leuke verhalen over de stad en haar geschiedenis. De lunch was heerlijk en goed georganiseerd, een fijne pauze in een tropische omgeving.

De fietsen waren in topconditie, goed onderhouden en comfortabel om op te rijden, ook met het warme weer. Alles verliep soepel en ontspannen.

Kortom: een absolute aanrader voor wie op een actieve, leuke manier Kuala Lumpur wil ontdekken!

De prijs is het dus echt meer dan waard, ook als je hoort dat ze per maand 60 voedselpakketten doneren!

Erg leuke toer gedaan. We begonnen in de regen, poncho’s waren geregeld en hij een goede 25 graden helemaal niet erg. Je komt op plekken waar je anders niet komt er krijgt leuke achtergrond verhalen te horen over de stad en de mensen die er leven. Een aanrader als je Kualalumpur op een andere manier wilt ervaren. Salie en Sin waren prima tourguides!

Saya pergi ke cawangan az e-bike Sungai Buloh untuk beli e-bike yang company nak untuk (lucky draw), tapi tak ada stok. Lepas itu saya call cawangan Wangsa Melawati, tapi masa angkat call, Kevin (branch supervisor) cakap dengan saya secara kurang ajar. Dia kata ada model basikal yang company saya nak, tapi bila sampai sana, model tu tak ada dan kena order dari HQ. Memang menyusahkan bila datang jauh tapi barang tak ada langsung. I had a great experience with The Bike Artisans. I had my bike packed by them to be transported on a plane. The staff there was very helpful and helped me with ordering a Grab Taxi to the airport with the packed bicycle. I highly recommend using their services.

The Bike Artisans is a MUST visit if you’re in KL. The bicycle selection is curated and beautiful. Normally you would expect such high end bicycles to come with an intimidating environment, but it couldn’t have been more the opposite. The whole team there were kind and welcoming. I will be stopping here every time I’m in KL.

Staff services are off the roof the minute you step in front of the door they will smile and greet you as if you have already been there (very positive vibes), I even get a free service of replacing my old saddle to the new one (shout out to the repairman)
Price i would say it’s a general price for items that you want/need, and it’s almost complete for road bike community

I joined the Bike With Elena tour in Kuala Lumpur and it was truly exceptional. Elena was not only an incredibly warm and down‑to‑earth host but also a remarkably knowledgeable guide. She opened my eyes to facets of KL’s history and culture I never would have discovered on my own. I had the privilege of joining Ms. Elena Shim’s Kampung Baru walk on 23 August 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Elena is an outstanding guide, warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and traditions of Kuala Lumpur’s last surviving Malay enclave. From the very beginning, she made us feel welcome, and as a bonus, her son and daughter joined the walk too. They were absolute troopers and brought an extra touch of authenticity and warmth to the experience.

The highlight of the walk was the Pasar Minggu wet market. Elena gave us the history of the market and the neighborhood while guiding us through its lively stalls. The vibrant colors of the fresh fruits and vegetables contrasted with the pungent but authentic atmosphere of the fish and meat sections in this fully Halal market. We got to taste kuih and street snacks, and Elena pointed out hidden gems along the way, including where to find the best roti chennai in town.

One of the most memorable moments was stepping into the Sikh temple, where we learned about the community’s generous humanitarian spirit, feeding people selflessly through disasters and pandemics. Their contributions to the area and their role in supporting those in need were both inspiring and humbling, made even more special by the chance to share in Langar food.

We ended the tour at a surviving 130-year-old wooden stilt house tucked into an old neighborhood, dramatically surrounded by the city’s modern skyscrapers. It was a powerful reminder of how much history still exists here, but also of how fragile it is. Developers are quickly tearing down these historic areas, and more needs to be done to preserve them before they vanish completely.

Elena’s storytelling tied everything together beautifully, making the walk both educational and deeply personal. I left with a far greater appreciation for Kampung Baru and its people.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the “real” Kuala Lumpur before it fades into history!

I reached out to Elena to help a friend and I get around Kuala Lumpur. As a person local and familiar to KL, I was looking for something fresh and out of the box for my friend and I. I was not disappointed.

Elena and Salleh were specific about the story they wanted to paint about Kuala Lumpur through their ride. They brought us into alleyways, a temple, and a mosque, through downtown KL to show a Malaysian culture and identity through small, hidden details within the urban fabric of the city.

As cyclists, they helped us navigate through the city safely, managing traffic to allow us to move through busy streets.

The pace of the ride was slow and relaxed and timed very well. We arrived back at our starting point on time, despite the packed schedule. I did not feel like I spent four hours cycling around the city–they stitched the itinerary quite seamlessly.

If you are looking for an intimate tour of our historic downtown by bike, look no further!

We make a point of doing a bike ride in every major city we visit and so it was inevitable that our visit to KL should include a bike tour and to that end our choice of Bike With Elena was the right one
We were taken to places we would never have discovered on our own, discovered a side of KL that we never knew existed or read about like the little piece of old suburbia right in the heart ok KL. The breakfast provided was not only delicious but such a wonderful experience, the coffee was as good as anything I’ve tasted, again something we would never have found on our own, in fact all the food provided on the tour was fantastic.
The visit to the wet market was something we loved, to see the locals shopping and going about their daily routine was to truly experience daily life in KL.
The bonus was to ride a bike through the streets of KL, we never felt stressed, drivers around us were respectful and we always felt safe and throughly enjoyed the day.
This is a tour I would highly recommend, Elena was a great guide and provided a great insight into Malaysian history and culture. Do yourself a favour, if you are thinking of doing a bike tour, thinking of doing something different than the usual tours, this is the tour to do.

Did the Ampang River Route for children and parents recently and it was awesome. Children had loads of fun. The cycling route was comfortable and not too taxing. The stopover at the playground for the Klang River workshop for children was perfect and good fun. I would be glad to do the exact same activity again in the future. Thank you so much Elena and Gogobikes and Klang River Festival and team. Ending the ride at Medan Selera Bunga Tanjung is perfect. Lovely Malay lauk restaurant there with vast variety for lunch.

Wanted to buy 4x regular v-brake stem screws only for my bike. Seller condescendingly responded with “RM20 for each screws, take it or leave”. Nvr coming here again.

Have bought multiple items from this shop including a Trek FX3 Bike! The service have been superb and the items legitimate. Not to mention they have one of the fastest bike mechanics around. This shop have always served my needs and will be my go to shop even if it is quite a distance from my house. Its a worthy trip for such exceptional service. Thumbs up!

Best place for cyclist. I’m a beginner to road bike with little knowledge about it. The owner & mechanics are humble & share their experience, knowledges & tips to me as a beginner during my visit for their services. They treat their customers nicely. Im enjoying myself there & will visit again.

I had an amazing experience with #FIVE Cycle Run Café in Kuala Lumpur. Gertjan and his team have built a fantastic community hub for cyclists at Bukit Damansara, making it the perfect starting point for group rides. I was paired with Donal, a local Irish rider, who guided me on a morning ride to Genting Sempah—one of the most famous climbs in KL’s cycling scene.

Navigating through the busy city streets in the early morning was exciting, and thanks to Donal’s strong pace, we pushed through traffic with ease. I was already wondering how much energy I’d have left for the climb! After about 30 km, we reached the base of Genting Sempah—a steady 15 km ascent. The gradient wasn’t too steep, but after the effort to get there, it was still a solid challenge. Unfortunately, our planned coffee stop at the summit was closed (likely due to Ramadan), so we turned back, enjoying a well-earned descent while dodging some curious monkeys along the way.

In true cycling spirit (Rule #55: “Earn your turns”), the ride wasn’t over yet. Before returning, Donal took me up Mayor’s Hill, rewarding us with an incredible view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. Then came the final decision—take the long way back or tackle “The Wall,” a brutal local climb. Completely spent, I opted for the longer but gentler route.

Throughout the ride, Donal pushed me to my limits but never left me behind, making this a tough but truly enjoyable challenge—especially in the humid Malaysian climate I’m not used to! Back at #FIVE, the cool towel, avocado and egg toast, and perfectly brewed coffee were exactly what I needed to recover.

#FIVE Cycle Run Café knows what they’re doing, and I can’t recommend them enough. They’ve created a top-tier cycling experience in KL, and I’ll definitely be back on my next visit!

My cycling group and I from Jakarta really enjoyed the cycling route, starting from Bukti Damansara to KL City. The bicycles were as per our requests, Gertjan was very communicative and accompanied our ride, starting from #Five to Bukti Tunku. Then we continued cycling to explore KL City accompanied by our other friend..it was so fun! I hope to explore other routes in KL and Malaysia with JomVelo. Coming around Kuala for work, with a day off to enjoy, 2 collegues and i decided to find a location to rent decent bikes and try to make a loop. We found Five Bicycle and Gertjan searching on the internet. We did rent 2 polygon bikes, which are good enought to make a nice loop around. We received a warm welcome and help to search for a route. The day was really enjoyable and i can only thank again Gertjan by posting a good review on his shop. Good people, good flat white, good cinamon roll (and also possibility to buy gels and isotonic if needed for a decent price). Also nice cycling clothes shop next to the place. Only thing that i can say is that it would have been great if the kitchen was still open when we came back from the ride, but we understand that kitchen can’t be open all day long. What a great experience, renting a bike for 2 days from #FIVE. The bike I rented (Polygon – HELIOS A7 with Shimano 105 disc – 11speed) was in a very good state. Gertjan is a great host and made sure I had everything on the bike needed for a safe ride. I’ll definitely come back to #FIVE whenever I’m in KL. Also don’t forget to have coffee / lunch afterwards at the #FIVE / Char Line cafe, the avocado toast with egg is the best!
