One of the most charming and creative souvenir shops in Kuala Lumpur!
Paper Adventures by Loka Made offers beautifully designed magnets, postcards, and gifts with local flair. Everything is unique and high quality — not your typical tourist items.

I first discovered them during an event at The Exchange TRX, and was happy to find their main shop inside Central Market. They also participate in art fairs and exhibitions from time to time, which makes it easy to catch them around the city.

Prices are slightly on the higher side, but honestly worth it for the thoughtful design and quality.
If you’re looking for artistic and meaningful souvenirs, this shop is a must-visit!

من ألطف محلات التذكارات وأكثرها تميزًا في كوالالمبور!
Paper Adventures by Loka Made

Syazwan A.

I had a great experience refilling my 2024 notebook, and to my surprise, there’s a new plastic-made wire binder that allows users to refill it themselves — which I think is a really cool upgrade! I decided to go for all-plain pages this time, as I want my creativity to stay unobstructed. I also added the 2025–2026 calendar for easy reference.

I was pleasantly assisted by the staff at the shop this morning — she was resourceful and very helpful.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely come back for my next purchase! 🙂

Worth to wait if u are 很挑剔的人!

Must try !! It’s heaven !

Had a bad experience TWICE in this same outlet by 2 same staff. A malay lady + another younger Indian girl. Looking angry and downright grumpy is one thing but being rude and unprofessional is another. I immediately returned the things I was planning to buy after this experience.

went to the shop to buy some souvenirs. total purchases – MYR 41.80. paid MYR 101.80 and should have received back MYR60. Before we received back the change, we requested for a plastic bag. the young chinese guy with glasses behind the cashier handed us a plastic bag but not the change. we were somehow distracted and walked away. he should have stopped us to handover the change, but he didn’t. we didn’t receive a receipt too.

we realised the short change 2 hours later and returned to the store. the young chinese guy with glasses remembered us but insisted that he had handed over the change. we requested to look at the cctv but the shop owner refused saying that CCTV is out of order. he showered zero interest in attempting to help.

we attempted to recall what occurred during the incident. we are definitely sure that we have not received the change. we are disgusted at the dishonesty of this young chinese guy and the indifference attitude of the shop owner. they are clearly related.

we will lodge a police report.

I went to a shop to buy souvenirs, with the total purchase amounting to MYR 41.80. I paid MYR 101.80 and was supposed to receive MYR 60 in change. Before I received the change, I asked for a plastic bag. The young Chinese man with glasses at the cashier handed me the bag but not the change. I got distracted and walked away without noticing the missing money. I also didn’t receive a receipt.

Two hours later, I realized I hadn’t received the change and went back to the store. The cashier remembered me but insisted he had given me the money. When I requested to check the CCTV footage, the shop owner refused, claiming the cameras were out of order, and showed no interest in helping.

I’m certain I didn’t receive the change and feel disgusted by the cashier’s dishonesty and the shop owner’s indifferent attitude. I suspect they’re related and plan to lodge a police report.

This store is located on the lower ground of Petronas Tower, near gathering point for observatory deck visitor. You also can find informative area around here, which is also accessible to public. Actually I’ve learned a lot about the tower from stopping by there.

Back to the store, it is offering vast kind of souvernis of the Tower. Shirt, T-shirt, mug, tumbler, fidge magnets, keychain, many kind of bags, 2D & 3D puzzle, etc you name it. Price is obviously higher than similar things outside, but I think it is still reasonably priced. The design I think didn’t find it outside as well. Staffs are also very helpful. So I would say it is a good place to get authentic Petronas Tower’s souvernir.

It cost 350+ MYR for that white shirt. Just to give you a figure what type of gift shop you are entering.

Review on the shirts, the quality feels comfy. I can tell it is of high quality.

Frequently Asked Questions about Souvenir Shops in Kuala Lumpur

What types of souvenirs are commonly found in Kuala Lumpur?

You’re likely to encounter a wide range of souvenirs in Kuala Lumpur. Common finds include Batik clothing and fabric, traditional handicrafts like wood carvings and woven baskets, keychains and magnets depicting famous landmarks, food products such as dried snacks and spices, and dolls representing traditional costumes. Malaysia-themed apparel is also a popular purchase.

Where are the best places to find souvenir shops?

Several areas are known for their concentration of souvenir shops. Petaling Street (Chinatown) is a popular destination, offering a vast selection at varying prices. Central Market is a government-owned complex focusing on arts and crafts, ensuring a certain level of quality. Shopping malls like Suria KLCC and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur also house souvenir retailers, though they may be more upscale. Tourist areas around KL Tower and Batu Caves are filled with smaller shops.

How can I distinguish between authentic and mass-produced souvenirs?

Identifying authentic items can be tricky. Look for signs of handmade craftsmanship, such as uneven stitching on Batik or unique details in wood carvings. Genuine Batik often has a hand-stamped feel, while mass-produced items are perfectly uniform. Ask vendors about the origin of the product and be wary of items priced significantly lower than others – this could indicate lower quality or reproduction.

What is Batik, and why is it a popular souvenir?

Batik is a traditional Malaysian fabric created through a process of waxing and dyeing. It’s known for its intricate patterns and vibrant colors, often depicting cultural motifs and natural elements. It's a highly sought-after souvenir because it represents Malaysian heritage and artistry. You can find Batik in various forms, including clothing, scarves, wall hangings, and even tote bags.

Are there any souvenir shops catering specifically to higher-end or luxury items?

Yes, Kuala Lumpur has souvenir shops catering to a more upscale clientele. These shops typically offer refined handicrafts, jewelry incorporating Malaysian elements, exclusive designs, and art from renowned Malaysian artists. Shopping malls in the Bukit Bintang area often have shops offering these premium items.

What is a reasonable price to pay for common souvenirs?

Prices for common souvenirs can fluctuate widely depending on the location and quality. Keychains and magnets typically cost between RM5 and RM15. Small Batik items like scarves might range from RM20 to RM50. More elaborate handicrafts like wood carvings can cost RM50 and upwards. Always bargain, especially at markets like Petaling Street.

Is it acceptable to bargain at souvenir shops?

Yes, bargaining is common practice at many souvenir shops, especially at markets and smaller shops. It’s considered a cultural norm and is often expected. Be polite and respectful while negotiating, and be prepared to walk away if you can’t reach a price you’re comfortable with. In larger, fixed-price stores, bargaining is usually not appropriate.

What are some unique or less common souvenirs I should look for?

Beyond the typical keychains and magnets, explore for more unique souvenirs. Look for Wayang Kulit (shadow puppets), Kris (ceremonial daggers – replicas only!), intricate Songket (woven silk fabric), traditional Keris jewelry, or locally produced snacks and drinks you might not find elsewhere. Visiting smaller, less touristy areas can increase your chances of finding these rarer items.

What are the ethical considerations when buying souvenirs?

Be mindful of the origin of the products and ensure they are produced ethically. Avoid purchasing items made from endangered species or that exploit vulnerable communities. Support local artisans and businesses directly whenever possible. Look for labels indicating fair trade practices and ensure the materials used are sustainably sourced.

What are the payment options generally accepted at souvenir shops?

Most souvenir shops in Kuala Lumpur accept a variety of payment options. You’re likely to find that they accept cash (Malaysian Ringgit), major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and mobile payment platforms like Touch ‘n Go. Smaller shops may only accept cash, so it's always a good idea to have some Ringgit on hand.
