Best time to visit: early morning or evening. Don’t go here when the sun is up because you will get sunburned. Filipinos say, it is hot in the Philippines but in Malaysia, it is burning/scorching hot, like the sun rays are pricking through your skin, it hurts.

What you can see here: There’s a fountain at one end where the Merdaka signange is. On the other end is their flag. Right in the middle is a big open space with grass, yes just grass. When you are at the end where the flag is, you get to see the Petronas Towers and KL tower in one frame. However, the view is not great at the time we were there (26 Sept 2025) because there’s construction/repairs being done to the building with clock (I think, not sure though, it was the train station).

There’s an Anglican church at one side. We were not able roam around because it is really hot, the umbrella didn’t help.

How to get there: Grab. Rates can be low or twice even thrice as high when there’s surge.

Is this a must visit: if you only have the time to visit ONE place in Malaysia, go visit the Petronas Towers at night, go to the side of Suria KLCC/Mandarin Hotel, where the fountains are, they have fountain light/music show at night.

Merdeka Square is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic and historically important landmarks. This is the exact spot where Malaysia declared its independence in 1957, and you can still feel the weight of history when standing on its vast open field. The square is surrounded by beautiful colonial-era buildings, the most famous being the Sultan Abdul Samad Building.

Currently, it’s worth noting that the Sultan Abdul Samad Building is undergoing renovation, so parts of its facade are covered and may not look as photogenic as usual. Still, its impressive architecture is visible, and the area remains a key highlight of the square.

The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon. Mornings are perfect for avoiding crowds and capturing clean, wide shots. In the evening, the surrounding buildings light up beautifully, and the square feels more lively. Keep in mind there’s little shade, so bring sunscreen or a hat, as the midday heat can be intense.

Nearby attractions include the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery (great for a quick history lesson and photo ops), the River of Life (just a short walk away and especially beautiful at night), and Masjid Jamek, one of the city’s oldest mosques.

Tips for visitors:
• Visit early in the morning for the best photo opportunities without people.
• Bring water and sun protection — shade is limited.
• Check out the River of Life and City Gallery while you’re here.
• If you’re interested in history, reading about Malaysian independence before visiting makes the experience richer.

The overall quality of the experience justifies the price, especially for those seeking a truly special view of the capital city and its iconic landmarks.

ABSOLUTELY worth the visit, very beautiful observation deck. This was my second time here and previously i went during the day, however i would recommended heading up before sunset , seeing sunset and then heading down after dark. It’s absolutely beautiful to see the city in both daytime and nighttime. It is worth noting too that after sunset the observation deck did get a lot quieter. As someone who isn’t fond of lifts it is over within a few minutes and staff are constantly monitoring them.

KL Tower offers a peaceful escape high above the city with some truly stunning panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur. Whether you visit during the day or around sunset, the cityscape looks beautiful from the observation deck. The tower itself is well-maintained and organized, and the experience feels calm and enjoyable. There are a few small attractions around the base as well, making it a pleasant spot to explore. Overall, a quiet yet memorable place to take in the beauty of KL from above. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the city and want a relaxed experience with a great view.

This park is a fantastic place to get active and recharge. This was my second visit, and I learned my lesson: ditch the office clothes and wear something light, comfortable, and ready for a good sweat! The park is huge, so even with hundreds of people jogging and walking, it never feels crowded.
I highly recommend going early in the morning. The weather is much friendlier before the sun gets too high, making your workout more enjoyable. There are tons of paths to explore, from wide-open walkways to more secluded trails where you can find a bit of solitude. I was also surprised to discover a concert hall within the park, which adds to its unique charm.
The park is beautiful and incredibly well-maintained. The people are also very disciplined, which makes for a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for an intense workout or a quiet place to unwind and clear your head after a long week, this park is a perfect spot to reconnect with nature and recharge.

Our visit to the Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur was truly memorable. We were absolutely marveled by the breathtaking variety of trees and flowers — from towering tropical palms to vibrant blossoms in every shade imaginable. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to slow down and soak in the beauty of nature.

After exploring the gardens, the children had a fantastic time at the Fantasy Playground. It was a joyful, colorful space where they could run, climb, and let their imaginations roam freely. This combination of serene nature and lively play made it a perfect family outing.

We left with our hearts full, our cameras packed with photos, and the feeling that this is a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Kuala Lumpur.

It’s a great opportunity for both children and adults to learn about different ecosystems and appreciate the beauty of the ocean. The layout is thoughtfully designed, offering multiple perspectives on the exhibits.

Price – Less than RM50 for Malaysians. You can get it even cheaper if you book through Klook.

Location – Located opposite KLCC, near the expo hall.need to take the elevator one level down to reach the entrance.

Experience – Spent around 2 hours inside. It gets crowded on weekends. Came around 10 AM and the queue wasn’t long. The place is stroller-friendly.

There were so many types of fish and the aquarium was well-maintained. The temperature inside was comfortable (not too cold or hot.)

The underground tunnel was the highlight. The view was superb. you could see turtles, sharks, and all kinds of fish swimming above and beside you. Truly a wonderful experience. Would definitely come again.

Last week we visited Aquaria KLCC with the kids and it was such a wonderful experience for the whole family. The kids were really excited and enjoyed every moment. Inside, we could see so many different kinds of sea creatures — from sharks, turtles, big stingrays, and seahorses, to many unique types of fish. The aquarium is well maintained, clean, and the display tanks are very impressive. The staff were also friendly and helpful, making the visit even more comfortable.

It was not only fun for the children but also educational, because they could learn about marine life while watching it up close. Overall, it was a happy and memorable trip for us. Definitely a recommended place to visit in KL, especially for families with kids.

LCT

Aquaria KLCC is still a fun and educational spot to visit, though I noticed not much has changed—probably about 80% the same as past years. Still worth a trip, especially for families and kids.

Tips & Suggestions:
• If you plan to spend more than half a day, consider carpooling to share the parking fee, or better yet, take the LRT. Parking at KLCC is quite costly.

• From KLCC Centre Court (Ground Floor), the walk to Aquaria takes more than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, signage isn’t very clear—especially for birthday redemption. You’ll need to ask staff, who will then provide a QR code to fill up your details before verification at the counter. Clearer hanging signage would be very helpful. Weekend birthday redemption is not allowed.

• The entrance can be confusing. Strongly suggest having two clear lanes with overhead signage instead of signs placed only at the entrance, as most visitors end up asking staff where to queue.

• For crowd control, it would help if visitors with large shopping bags are asked to store them, since the walkways are narrow and also need to accommodate baby strollers and wheelchairs.

• Display fonts for information could be bigger and brighter. More guard patrols would help enforce rules—many people still ignore the “No Flash” signs.

Overall, a good experience but improvements in signage, crowd management, and enforcement would make it even better.

Aquaria KLCC is a nice experience and worth a visit if you’re in Kuala Lumpur. While it is relatively smaller and has fewer species compared to the Singapore aquarium, it is still very well maintained, clean, and organized. The tunnel walk with sharks and rays is the highlight and makes the visit enjoyable.

It’s a good spot for families and tourists to spend an hour or two, and the location inside KLCC is very convenient. Overall, a pleasant experience, though don’t expect it to be on the same scale as some of the larger aquariums in the region.

It was such a nice experience being here. For those with kids, I really recommend bringing them along, they’ll have lots of fun activities to do and get to see so many different bird species. Just a heads up, parking can be a bit tricky if you arrive after 10 am. The staff are super friendly and helpful and there are two gift shops, one at the entrance and another inside the bird park

Our visit to Kuala Lumpur Bird Park was a wonderful first-time experience! It’s the first bird park we’ve been to where you can walk right alongside so many different bird species, from vibrant parrots to majestic peacocks. The highlight was definitely the bird show — watching the parrots and the eagle in action was fascinating for both us and the kids.

We also learned so much through the various information spots around the park, offering insights about birds’ legs, feathers, and habits. We spent three marvelous hours exploring, and while the tickets are a bit on the expensive side, the experience is absolutely worth it.

Tip: Bring hats, drinks, sunscreen, and a few snacks for the kids to make the day even more enjoyable.

One of the best parks I’ve ever been!

Honestly I’m not big fan of any zoo but I read many reviews and I liked that birds are in free space to walk and fly.

All of them are just amazing! In the beginning funny parrots will meet you to make a hair style for you or bite :)) So be careful but it was super funny 🙂

A lot of birds will walk around, will fly, will cream, even make love there :)) Don’t miss feedings of birds in different areas, ask about timetable for it.

There are free WC on the area in different places. There is a restaurant if you want to eat with some birds who fly to you and help to eat 🙂

There is some bird show. It was cute as well.

I’m sure you will enjoy it if you love nature and birds! Amazing place for whole family. We spent there more than 3h and could spend more but we forgot power bank 🙁 Don’t repeat our mistake! 🙂

KL bird park is a large open aviary nestled just around the National mosque & few other tourist attractions sites. This aviary doesn’t have most of the local bird collections. But friendly birds are left to roam freely in the aviary. This is an interesting way to introduce children to birds and their characteristics.
More upgrade efforts and research needs to be done in preserving and breeding birds in here.
The bird park should also reconsider or review the bird shows held periodically everyday. Educational shows for kids and bird enthusiasts should be considered.

We had a wonderful family day at KL Bird Park! The park is very well maintained, and it was such a unique experience to walk among so many free-flying birds. My babies absolutely loved it the most – seeing their excitement and joy was truly priceless. It’s a great spot for families to explore nature, learn about different species, and enjoy a relaxing day together.

The only small point is that the entrance fee is a bit above average compared to other attractions, but overall, the experience and memories we made were definitely worth it. Highly recommended for families visiting KL!

The National Museum of Malaysia provides a comprehensive overview of the nation’s rich history and cultural heritage. The building itself is an impressive feat of architecture, and the exhibits offer a clear and informative journey through various periods, from prehistoric times to the present day. It’s a great place to start to understand Malaysian history.

While not overwhelmingly large, the museum’s layout is well-organized, allowing visitors to easily navigate and appreciate the diverse collection of artifacts and displays. It’s a valuable resource for both tourists and locals seeking to learn more about Malaysian culture and gain a deeper appreciation for the country’s complex past. A great place to spend a few hours.

A not very big museum, but interesting. It presents the history of Malaysia, in its different important stages.
You need about an hour to visit it.
There is also a small cafe and a restaurant.

Very interesting place where we can get an idea about ancient Malaysia and some
other southeast asian countries as well. Tucker cost is 5 ringgit per person. This museum is well organized as they are divided into 4 divisions. A must visit place if you are in KL.

I was quite disappointed with this theme park. The selection of rides for kids was not very attractive, and the height restrictions were higher compared to other theme parks I’ve visited around the world. This further limited the options for children, especially those between the ages of 8 to 13. Most rides seemed to be either for very small kids or adults, leaving little in between.

While some adult rides like the roller coaster were decent, other attractions such as the Go-Kart were closed for a private event. This was frustrating, especially considering we had paid full price for entry — it’s simply not fair to block access to rides that are included in the ticket. Several other rides were also closed, which only added to the disappointment.

What’s more, even if you’re just accompanying your children and not planning to go on any rides, you still have to pay around RM80, which I find unreasonable. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this theme park. It’s overpriced and lacks value, especially for families with kids in the 8–13 age group. Definitely not worth it in my opinion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Berjaya Times Square is a huge shopping mall with a great mix of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options — even an indoor theme park! It’s a fun place to spend the day and you can find almost anything here. However, the layout can feel a bit confusing at times and some areas could use a refresh. Overall, a lively spot in the heart of Kuala Lumpur worth visiting.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling Bukit Bintang area, Berjaya Times Square is a massive and vibrant mall complex offering over 1,000 retail outlets across its multiple floors . It’s a magnet for both bargain seekers and budget-conscious visitors.

Fashion lovers will appreciate the abundance of affordable clothing stores. Many stalls offer women’s apparel from RM 10 to RM 50—about US$2.50 to US$12.50—perfect for the savvy fashionista watching her wallet . Add to that outlet-style shops and small technology kiosks, and you’ve got a one-stop shop for great deals .

Food-wise, the mall doesn’t disappoint. With more than 60 dining options, including casual food court fare on the 10th floor and international cafés like Sushi King and Dôme, you can refuel without breaking the bank . For entertainment, the indoor theme park—home to Asia’s longest indoor roller coaster—and family-friendly attractions add fun to your shopping trip, offering good value for money too .

Though it’s not a luxury destination, Berjaya Times Square shines in its diversity, affordability, and lively atmosphere. Whether you’re in it for budget fashion finds, electronic bargains, or a full day of fun, it offers excellent bang-for-buck value. Ideal for families, teens, and anyone exploring KL on a shoestring.

What is the best time of year to visit Kuala Lumpur?

The best time to visit Kuala Lumpur is generally between March and September. During these months, the weather is typically drier and more pleasant with less rainfall. However, Kuala Lumpur has a tropical climate, so expect humidity throughout the year. The monsoon season usually runs from November to February, bringing heavier rain and potential flooding.

How accessible are the major attractions for people with disabilities?

Accessibility varies across different attractions. The KLCC Park and the Suria KLCC mall are generally quite accessible, with ramps and elevators. Some older attractions, like parts of Merdeka Square, may have limited accessibility. It's always recommended to check the specific website or contact the attraction directly for detailed accessibility information prior to visiting. Many tour operators also offer accessible tours.

What is the significance of the Petronas Twin Towers?

The Petronas Twin Towers are an iconic symbol of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. Completed in 1998, they held the title of the world's tallest buildings for six years. They represent Malaysia’s economic progress and its ambition on the global stage. The towers are also a stunning example of Islamic architecture. Tickets to visit the Skybridge and observation deck are in high demand and require advance booking.

Is it safe to explore Kuala Lumpur independently?

Kuala Lumpur is generally considered safe for tourists, especially in popular tourist areas. However, like any large city, it's important to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions against petty theft. Keep valuables secure, be mindful of your belongings in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone late at night in less-populated areas. Utilizing official transportation is also recommended.

What is the best way to get around Kuala Lumpur?

Kuala Lumpur offers a variety of transportation options. The Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorail, and bus systems are efficient and affordable. Ride-hailing services like Grab are also readily available. Taxis are an option but ensure the meter is used or agree on a fare upfront. Walking is a good way to explore some areas, but Kuala Lumpur is quite sprawling.

What are some traditional cultural experiences I can have?

To experience the local culture, visit Central Market for handicrafts and artwork, attend a Malay dance performance, or explore the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Consider a cooking class to learn how to prepare traditional Malaysian dishes. Respectful dress is appreciated when visiting religious sites like mosques and temples.

How much does it typically cost to visit the Batu Caves?

Visiting the Batu Caves itself is free. However, there are charges for some of the specialized tours, such as those reaching the top of the main temple. It's customary to offer a small donation at the main temple. The climb to the top involves many stairs, so comfortable footwear is essential. Be mindful of the monkeys – they can be quite bold.

Are there any dress code requirements for visiting religious sites?

When visiting mosques and temples in Kuala Lumpur, it's essential to observe dress code requirements. For mosques, visitors typically need to cover their shoulders and knees, and women may be required to wear a headscarf. Some sites provide headscarves for visitors. Respectful attire demonstrates courtesy and appreciation for the local customs and traditions.

What is the best way to experience the local food scene?

To truly experience Kuala Lumpur's food scene, venture beyond the tourist restaurants. Explore hawker centers and kopitiams (traditional coffee shops). Try dishes like Nasi Lemak, Char Kway Teow, and Roti Canai. Don't be afraid to try new things – Malaysian cuisine is a delicious blend of Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences.

How far in advance should I book accommodation?

It is recommended to book accommodation well in advance, especially if you’re planning to visit during peak season or major events. Popular hotels and guesthouses can fill up quickly. Booking in advance also gives you a wider range of choices and often allows you to secure better deals. Consider locations that are convenient to the transportation network.
