Lot 10 Hutong

7.8

Lot 10 Hutong offers a unique and enticing glimpse into Kuala Lumpur's culinary heritage. The overall concept of bringing together celebrated street food vendors under one roof is a clever way to preserve and share these often-fleeting experiences. It appears to be a curated selection of stalls, aiming to recreate the atmosphere of historic hawker centers. The atmosphere is definitely the main draw, a convenient location for those eager to sample a wide variety of tastes.

A visit here provides an accessible way to explore a broad spectrum of Malaysian and regional dishes. While one might not expect the raw authenticity of a truly localized street corner, the effort to recreate that ambiance is appreciated. It is a great introduction for newcomers to Malaysian cuisine, providing a safer and more climate-controlled environment than traditional options. The selection seems well-regarded, based on observations and conversations.

My wife and I were here today for lunch at this (our favourite in KL) food court. We are from Johor Bahru and we were last here in 2017. It was good to see that this food court has been able to maintain its many "famous" stalls after these years. However, our go-to stalls here are: Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee and Lee Kee('s) Imbi Road Original Pork Noodle. And we were happy that these 2 noodle are still very well prepared and delicious as ever. We also like the dining ambience here - spacious, well-ventilated and in air-conditioned comfort. As for the service, it was good enough for us.

Lot 10 is a fantastic place to explore if you’re into food, flavour, and a bit of local buzz. Head down the escalators and you’re suddenly in a whole different world – a bustling underground food court packed with the sights, sounds, and smells of street-style cooking. From sizzling woks to steaming bowls of noodles, it’s a real sensory experience. There’s a great variety of local and regional dishes to choose from, all in one place – perfect for trying a few different things. Upstairs, you’ll find more modern eateries and cafés, as well as a decent selection of grocery and specialty shops. Whether you’re after a quick bite, a sit-down meal, or some foodie souvenirs, Lot 10 delivers. A fun and flavoursome stop in the heart of KL!

"Hutong Food Court Review: A Disappointing Culinary Experience" "Our recent visit to Hutong Food Court, inspired by a positive YouTube review, unfortunately proved to be a significant letdown. It became apparent that the venue's primary target audience is tourists, as we noted that a majority of the stalls (approximately 90%) were operated by foreign workers. This observation prompted us to lower our expectations for an authentic local food experience. To provide a fair assessment, we ordered three different dishes from separate vendors. Our findings are as follows: 1)Claypot Foochow Mee Sua (RM25+): This dish was the most disappointing of our selections. It lacked the characteristic and expected aroma of red wine, offering a one-dimensional and overwhelmingly salty flavor profile. The high sodium content made it difficult to consume more than a few bites. 2)Wanton Mee Soup with Dumplings (RM17+): The dumplings were satisfactory; however, the wanton noodles had a powerful and unpleasant alkaline taste, which completely overpowered the broth and other components. This issue significantly impacted the overall enjoyment of the dish. 3)Fried Oyster Omelette (RM19.90): This dish was a poor value for its price. The portion was remarkably small, containing only five tiny, pre-boiled oysters. The omelette itself was bland and lacked the rich, savory flavor one would expect from a proper fried oyster omelette. In summary, Hutong Food Court offers small portion sizes at a premium price. The quality of the dishes we sampled was subpar, lacking the authenticity and flavor that are hallmarks of true Malaysian street food.
