Still the best! Returning for their famous Nasi Biryani Ayam Madu.the dish is consistently excellent and I’m totally not disappointed! The hype is absolutely real.Beyond the food, the service is incredibly fast. Eating in the air-conditioned seating is a huge bonus. The Teh Tarik is sedap and even the Teh Masala was solid. If you’re craving top-tier biryani, this is the place. Highly recommended!

waktu : puncak (lunch time)
cuti umum.

If speed is what you want, this is it. If flavour is what you’re after, do manage your expectations.

Food came out lightning fast, probably made in bulk (assumed). Had the Maggi goreng telur mata & ayam goreng. The Maggi was fine, but the ayam was RIDICULOUSLY dry, clearly overcooked. Still, seasoning was on point

That said, it’s not fair to judge a place just off one or two dishes. Will definitely be back to try more next time

This is the real deal when it comes to briyani and I’ll always be thankful for the explosive flavors the food has to offer here. As this place is constantly crowded, the staff is constantly busy and probably won’t be able to entertain your requests. But once you’ve settled down with your meal, you’ll have a wonderful dining experience with your plate of rice. Parking here can be extremely difficult to find. But I truly find the flavors when dine in a lot better as compared to takeaway.

Food is very nice. Can try any combo you want. The staff’s service is also top notch. It feels like a small one-shop restaurant from the outside but when you go in you can see there is a big extension to another lot where there is plenty of places to sit.

I also appreciate that they use liquid handwash instead of watered down liquid handwash.

Price is also not bad for a Bangsar joint.

Tried this spot for the first time and went with the biryani and honey chicken—absolutely loved it! The timun and curry were packed with flavor. Already craving a second round! Don’t miss their murtabak—thick, juicy, and definitely one of the highlights here.

Our tour guide brought us to Nasi Kandar Pelita after our visit to the Twin Towers. It was jam packed when we arrived, clearly a very popular spot. The atmosphere was lively and the service moved quickly despite the crowd.

It was definitely a bit pricier than most local places we’ve dined at, but the variety of dishes available was impressive. My husband had the fish, mutton curry, eggplant and rice, while I got two jumbo prawns, karela, rice and some delicious chicken gravy.

We also ordered two fresh coconut waters which were perfect to cool down. My husband got the biryani for our two daughters (aged 5 and 6) but it turned out too spicy for them — something to keep in mind for those with young kids.

Overall, we enjoyed the meal and experience. A busy, flavorful stop in the heart of KL.

such a disappointing experience. the place is huge and crowded, yet only a few waiters were working, service was painfully slow both to order and to get the food. it was hot, noisy, and uncomfortable.

the food was just okay and affordable, and yes, they’re open 24 hours, but the lousy service and bad atmosphere make it not worth coming back.

It was my first ever visit to Kuala Lumpur and I tried to search for the best place to eat near my hotel. One of the most popular places that came up on my search and has been recommended by my frienda, is Nasi Kandar Pelita

The portion was quite generous and it will make your hungry tummy, full after you ate the Nasi Kandar. There were variety of protein, sides, and vegetables. I choose the prawn, fish egg, ocra, and sauteed cabbage

All in total with my drinks, which is mineral water is 35RM if I’m not mistaken. There were lot of menu in this one place, but their Nasi Kandar is the one they are special for

Enjoyed the nasi lemak here! The basmati rice is fragrant and nice. Both the fried chicken and sotong are cooked perfectly — the chicken is crispy and juicy, while the sotong comes with a slightly sweet sauce that complements it well. My only feedback would be the sambal — I personally prefer it to be spicier to balance out the sweetness. Overall, a delicious and satisfying meal!

Sambal reminds me of Bumbung and AFC Ali both located in Seapark but maybe a touch better depending on preference.

A pretty good plate of Nasi Lemak with a very good fried chicken. Their drinks are superb as well. This place is also quite wallet friendly.

There’s a satay stall nearby that serves great chicken and lamb satay.

Will return to try the Pasembur and other offerings soon (like their roti, murtabak, maggi, indomie) which look enticing.

Unassuming place with many locals. The must order everyone gets is the nasi lemak with one whole fried drumstick. The rice is fragrant but not as fragrant as v park or wnjo. However, the fried chicken is amazing. It is comparable with v park. It is fragrant and very juicy.

They will give you two types of chilli, one is the sweeter one with onions inside and the other one is a slightly spicier chilli.

The rojak was pretty good as well! Prices are reasonable the rojak was 8rm and the nasi lemak was around 11rm? They dont open early as well, from what i know is only around after night time.

Attentive service despite big stalls with tables and chairs everywhere. Fried Chicken is a must order. Tried their Maggie Goreng too. This is a total failed lar… Roti canai is good as it is freshly made upon order. During peak hours, need to park slightly further away which is not an issue. Anyhow, definitely will be back again for more.

Great spot for late night supper, the options I saw are nasi lemak (all chicken thigh), murtabak, and rojak. There might be more but I im not sure as there is no menu displayed and I didn’t ask for a menu. Lots a young people hangout here. There is also a ochien (fried egg with oyster) truck beside. The ordering is very fast, once you sit down the waiter will take your order and serve you the food almost instantly. The nasi lemak is served with a whole chicken leg with rice, one sweet sambal and one savory sambal, fried egg, peanuts and Ilan bilis. The fried egg is inconsistent as we ordered two plates and one came with a runny yolk and the other is with a cooked yolk, I guess it’s random. The chicken is abit dry and overcooked like most mentioned. What I disliked is the rice, it’s not the typical coconut fragrant rice but a yellow rice with not much fragrance to it. I really liked the savory sambal, but the amount they provided is quite little. Sitting outside is better as it’s more airy and cooling. I saw people bringing pet dogs as well so it’s pet friendly. The nasi lemak is RM11. When you’re done just have them calculate your total and pay, there is qr pay available but you have to walk to the counter to scan it. The parking is abit hard to find as it’s a residential area with no proper parking space but there is proper parking space across the street opposite the Chinese food court. Overall a good experience and would return if I am craving for late night nasi lemak.

Nasi lemak comes with whole leg for RM 13. Their fried whole leg chicken is very crispy and special. A different choice than bumbung. They also serve roti cheese special and it is really filling and nice.

Update: the place gets packed and super busy on the eve of public holiday, so expect a wait and no table. We had to get our own nasi lemak from the stall instead, still better than waiting .

Update02: not sure if it is a blessing to get a parking right in front this time (usually it’s full) because u get cars double parking your way and they are not alert that the car they are blocking has gone in waiting. Pity the car in front of me waited even longer than me. They even attempt to reverse to make space to go out. Let’s talk about it’s food. Today’s chicken is abit burnt, the meat inside is less juicy but the food were served less than 5 minutes of my order and they cater to us within 5 min after we sat down. I forgot to mention previously that their nasi lemak comes with 2 types of chillies, one spicier sambal and one sweet. Both are good.

I’ve bought nasi lemak from this place many times and generally enjoyed it. However, today I ordered three takeaway packs. Two had the usual chicken thigh and drumstick, but one was noticeably different and missing the drumstick. Unlike usual, I wasn’t standing nearby to observe them packing — I was seated and browsing my phone.

If you’re buying takeaway, I strongly recommend checking the contents before leaving. It’s disappointing, but it seems you can’t always trust them to pack everything correctly.

This restaurant is amazing, if you know what to expect. We read about Loti and really wanted to try it. We went at 1:30p for a late lunch and were very saddened to find out Loti is not served from noon-3pm!!!

So we got some snacks, then went to the Batu Cave as we had planned. We sure are glad we came back for dinner! The Loti here is soooo good! Use Google translate to see all the options. We got onion and egg to start. The toppings are actually cooked into the bread. After that we had the ghee loti, which was amazing.

Make sure to order the loti tissue after dinner, which doesn’t sound good, but it’s a super thin and crispy bread, with sugar and condensed milk served for dessert. Bring your own napkins if you want them, and try not to eat with your left hand as this place has a very local vibe. There is a sink in the back to wash your hands before eating. Just ask!

Those who knew the original roti Valentine from years ago can now come back and look forward to the light, crisp roti canai that was their signature before the intervening years just pre and post Covid of heavy roti and soggy Maggi goreng. The roti is light and flaky again, and the mee goreng mamak and the tandoori chicken (believe this is new) are yummy. The Maggi / Indomie goreng could have a little more oomph or kick. The sup kambing went down well with the two men on our table. Teh Halia was gingery and they adhered to the “kurang manis” asked for. Roti tissue was good too though the one on a neighboring table was enviably 50pc taller than ours. Service was very good, much better than previously. Keep it up!

Great tasty food at a ridiculously cheap price (by Australian standards). The Roti Canai was perfect and the accompanying sauces were a good mixture of mild to hot spice levels. Staff very friendly and helped explained the menu.
The restaurant is very basic with plastic chairs and tables so if you are looking a 3-star Michelin then look elsewhere.

The roti was good and can give it a try. Their Valentine Roti was not to my liking. Perhaps I came with too high hopes.Nasi lemak panas ‘biasa’ was good and worth trying.Sambal was spicy enough compared to other nasi lemak I have tasted around KL. I did try their spicy Maggi goreng was also nice but a little too oily and salty for my liking. The waiters were friendly and nice. Parking would be an issue if the place is packed as there are not too many parking since the shop is located in close proximity with the main road.

The Squid Nasi Lemak RM13 tasted average. The fried Squid and ikanbilis aren’t impressive and the rice is too wet and soft. Sambal is sweet, more for westerners. Considering this is their recommended dish, I’m not impressed. 3 stars.

It’s getting quite hot outdoors. I ordered chicken mutabak (4 stars), and teh tarik without sugar. The tea is quite diluted, I prefer stronger tea with non-sweeten milk.

Had tissue prata today. It was impressive and tasted great but very oily, not recommended to eat more than once a year, lol. Egg and onion prata was very healthy, no oil at all. It was a great breakfast, just below the apartment hotel that I am staying in. I will eat there again and update more photos.

Sronok jee

Very impressed resto! They have various menu for foods and drinks. I tried prata Hussin which one of best seller, nasi lemak sotong, nasi lemak paru, naan butter, horlicks sedjuk, teh hussin (tea with spices like cardamom, cinnamon, etc), roti kaya toast, roti peanut toast, teh O, and kopi. Almost all menu are good with best price in this area.

We had a delicious and filling meal served by a friendly and kind chef/owner who spoke English quite well. The chicken fried rice and roti canai were excellent. The chef gave us each a bowl of mutton soup to try and my wife (who doesn’t like mutton) quietly finished her bowl and asked if I was going to finish mine.

The atmosphere is casual and bustling, providing a genuine taste of local flavors. Value for money is a key strength, making it a popular choice.

It’s a place to go for a quick, flavorful bite and known for its late-night options, catering to those seeking a hearty meal. The service tends to be efficient, driven by the demands of a busy establishment.

Nasi daging merah, daging liat tak sedap telor dadar cincai mcm telor goreng biasa, nasi beriani masin, minta air limau suam guna cawan kopi gelas kecil!

Tandas ok, surau bau mcm nak termuntah!! Tempat nak solat bau mcm dah bau sampah sebab tu makanan pun jadi tak sedap!

Not recommended, kalau emergency lapar sgt boleh duduk la makan tapi jangan complain

Lagi satu, letak meja dan kerusi atas road shoulder. Jalan dah la sempit dan berhampiran selekoh. Penguatkuasaan kawasan terbabit mana? Dah ada kemalangan baru semua buka mata besar²?

Nasi Kandar Warung Tree offers a reliably convenient option for late-night eats. The location is a definite plus, being open 24 hours, and the food itself is generally well-regarded. The price point has seen some increases recently, but the overall value remains decent for the portion sizes and variety of dishes available. Consistent quality is a notable factor.

Service experiences seem to vary. While some find the staff attentive, others have noted a lack of responsiveness. The convenience of being open all night and the wide selection of curries do compensate for occasional shortcomings in service. It’s a good place for a quick and easy supper.

Try ordering any fried items here and get ready for the shock of your life. A chicken fried rice will cost you same as any other mamak shop. But be ready, the portion will be as big as your fist. Yes, you heard me right, your fist. 3 scoop ad you are done and paid a fortune. Service is ok, but can be greatly improved. I have been here few times, not voluntarily. It has always been because i had no choice at that time. I always get the worst asshole to serve me. A simple warm water will take 30 mins to arrive. I have left the place without even veing served a warm water after my meal, several times. Their nasi campur is quite nice though. But anything else, is crap. I stopped going there after my 5th visit. Their ability to piss me off each time is just mind blowing.

Order nasi lemak bungkus tapi terlalu ambil masa lama. Jadi saya terus ambil yg dh dibungkus diatas meja dan plastic dan terus balik. Sampai rumah, sambal takda. Baru teringat tadi terjerit2 sambal. Mungkin tgh panas kan ok slh saya jugak tak tunggu. So nasi lemak takda sambal. bukak2 ada rambut pendek. Mcm bulu tangan pun ada. kembang tekak saya. ni nak tulis terbayang lagi. tebal betul rambut tu.

Nasihat saya, jaga lah kebersihan dan kepantasan service. Bila customer bayar duit tapi tak boleh nak makan, ianya kerugian buat customer sama seperti highway robbery. Jangan lah jadi perompak, jadilah mamak yang baik, yg buat kerja cepat dan yg jaga kebersihan.

Tak faham bahasa! I still don’t get what I ordered. I am allergic to vegetables, and even though I’ve complained, they still don’t understand. The chef/staff just remove the vegetables from the dish instead of cooking a new one. Furthermore, some staff batuk suka hati je with no regard for hygiene at all!

I like their roti. Roti canai roti telur roti bom roti tisu all nice and crisp. For goreng² I like their mee goreng mamak kosong, flavorful. I’m not sure their nasi campur freshly cooked timing but if I see their nasi campur selection looks full and new then I will order, definitely much cheaper than mamak in KLTS. Won’t regret with their teh o ais limau and teh tarik too. Oh ya, their tandoori ayam is okay and I’ll order only if I crave it. Nice place to satisfy my appetite esp in mid night.

If you’re craving a true Malaysian comfort meal, nothing beats a hot, crispy Roti Canai paired with a frothy glass of Teh Tarik—and this Mamak did not disappoint.

The roti arrived fresh off the pan, golden-brown, flaky on the outside, and soft inside. It had that perfect slight chew that shows the dough was well-kneaded. The dhal was flavorful and not too watery, with a hint of spice that paired perfectly with the roti. The sambal was the real star—spicy, slightly sweet, and added that fiery kick.

The Teh Tarik was just as good—smooth, not overly sweet, and frothed beautifully. It had that rich, creamy pull that makes you take sip after sip.

Price:
Very affordable—under RM5 for both items. Great value for money.

Ambience:
Classic Mamak vibes—open-air, slightly noisy, but full of life. Perfect for late-night meals or a casual catch-up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Mamak Stalls in Kuala Lumpur

What exactly is a mamak stall?

A mamak stall, short for "mamak restaurant," is a type of roadside eatery primarily run by Indian Muslim men (mamaks) selling a unique blend of South Indian and Malay cuisine. They are a cultural institution in Kuala Lumpur and throughout Malaysia, offering affordable and delicious food late into the night.

What are some of the most popular dishes served at mamak stalls?

The menu is extensive, but some of the most popular dishes include Nasi Kandar (rice with a variety of curries), Roti Canai (a flaky flatbread), Mee Goreng (stir-fried noodles), Satay (grilled skewers of meat), and Teh Tarik (pulled tea). There's something for everyone, from savory to sweet.

Why are mamak stalls open so late?

Historically, mamak stalls served as a source of food for late-night workers, such as taxi drivers and factory employees. They continue to operate late due to high demand and a cultural expectation of providing sustenance for those who work unconventional hours. Many remain open until the early hours.

Is it safe to eat at a mamak stall?

Generally, yes. Most mamak stalls maintain reasonable hygiene standards, though they can be quite busy. Look for stalls that appear clean and well-maintained. It’s always good to be mindful of food safety practices, regardless of where you eat. They are often frequented by locals which is often a good indicator.

How much do I typically spend at a mamak stall?

Mamak stalls are incredibly affordable. A full meal, including rice, curry, and a drink, typically costs between RM5 and RM15. Roti Canai usually costs around RM2-3. The affordability is a huge draw for many. It’s one of the cheapest ways to eat out in Kuala Lumpur.

What's the significance of "Teh Tarik"?

Teh Tarik (pulled tea) is more than just a drink; it’s a symbol of mamak culture. The process of repeatedly pouring the tea back and forth between two cups creates a frothy texture and is a traditional spectacle. It’s considered a quintessential mamak experience.

What is Nasi Kandar and what makes it special?

Nasi Kandar is perhaps the most iconic mamak dish. It consists of rice served with a wide variety of curries and side dishes. The unique aspect is the way the food is piled high on a plate. It's a delicious and filling meal that is a favorite among locals. Many stalls have their own secret recipes.

Are mamak stalls only in Kuala Lumpur?

While mamak stalls are most prevalent in Kuala Lumpur, they can be found throughout Malaysia, particularly in urban areas with significant Indian Muslim populations. However, the concentration and influence of mamak culture are strongest in Kuala Lumpur.

What are some common phrases or customs to be aware of when visiting a mamak stall?

It’s customary to specify your preferred curry combination when ordering Nasi Kandar. Be prepared for a crowded and potentially noisy environment. Tipping is not generally expected, but rounding up the bill is appreciated. It is generally considered polite to acknowledge the mamak with a friendly greeting.

How do I find a good mamak stall?

Look for stalls that are busy with locals – this is often a good indicator of quality and taste. Read online reviews or ask for recommendations from locals. Observe the stall’s cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. Don’t be afraid to try different stalls until you find one you love; each mamak has their own unique style!
