International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is a truly unique institution that blends academic excellence with Islamic values in a breathtakingly beautiful environment. The campus in Gombak is stunning, surrounded by lush greenery and featuring incredible Islamic architecture that makes studying here a peaceful and inspiring experience. The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, located at the heart of the university, adds to the serene atmosphere, making it an ideal place for students who value both education and spirituality.
One of the best aspects of IIUM is its diverse community. Students from all over the world come here to study, creating a rich multicultural environment where different cultures and perspectives are shared. This makes university life vibrant and engaging, with numerous international events, student activities, and discussions that go beyond the classroom. Academically, IIUM is strong, offering a wide range of programs, especially in Islamic studies, law, engineering, and social sciences. The lecturers are highly knowledgeable, and the curriculum is designed to integrate both Islamic knowledge and modern education.
However, The location, while beautiful, is a bit far from the city, and public transportation options are limited.
Overall, IIUM is a great choice for those looking for a high-quality education in a spiritually enriching environment. The university offers a truly unique experience that many students find rewarding.

Visited IIUM for a training program for 2 weeks. It was a good experience overall. Uni is approximately 400 acres wide with one of the best architecture and design you can see in Malay. I really enjoyed each and every corner, especially the Shah Alam mosque which is located at the centre of the Uni, different Kulliahs with their unique architecture will surely captivate any student. Each and every Mahallah (Hostel dorms) is situated along with food courts providing variety of cuisines with proper maintenance and sanity. Foods from these mess are cheaper. What I really like about every Mahallahs is that each of them has seperate Surau (prayer hall) for the students. Am not that familiar with the academics and curriculum cause I was there for only 2 weeks for a debate training program. And from my perspective I really loved the university

The peaceful Islamic ambience is remarkable. Facility wise, campus is generally not the best but it’s well-equipped (hopefully they will upgrade from time to time). All kulliyyahs are in the center surrounded by mahallahs (residence). Every student will reside in mahallah provided by the campus unless they request to live out, so no worries about rent or whatever. There are two sport complex with one exclusive to female. Literally never been to any IIUM office (except mahallah office) to deal with any issue.
Acceptable workloads. Sometimes lecturers even replace written assignment with community engagement project. In my programme, lecturers love to give advices and wisdoms rather than just teaching. You self-arrange your class schedule (courses, time, lecturers). Variety of food: malay, western, korean, chinese, arab, turkish, indian etc. Plenty of cafes and seating areas to hang out. Transportation is not an issue as there are shuttle buses every 10-15 minutes interval, and also direct bus from IIUM to Gombak train station where everywhere is accessible.
One thing to regret as an alumni is to not join enough events and societies (to score 4.00 on co-curriculum is effortless). It’s overloaded with events to make you feel content. Talks, daurah talaqqi, campus festivals, theatres, sports, volunteerism. Making foreign friends is the best thing here, man. Great chance to create networking. So force yourself to socialize once in awhile even if you don’t want to and don’t forget to make use of all your student privilege.

Fairly large campus behind astro. I was told it is home to approximately 3000 students, a fair number of whom turned up for their mega career day, which i attended. Reasonably good canteen, even a subway and a coffee stand, which made me an, off menu item, a dirty latte. Lol. Engaging, friendly students. A large international community here. Parking aplenty for students, staff and visitors.

As an international student, I’m extremely disappointed with the condition and treatment I received in the APU University accommodation.
My room had visible mold, and one night I found a spiderweb near my feet while sleeping. When I checked further, I discovered spider eggs and live spiders under my mattress. I was so disturbed that I couldn’t sleep in my room for days. For several nights, I kept seeing spiders crawling near my bed. This caused me severe stress and even trauma — now I can’t sleep without checking everything around me first.
I also got sick due to the mold, and despite reporting these problems, no one came to fix anything. My complaints were ignored. On top of all this, the management is now blaming me for damage I did not cause — including a cracked bed base and burn marks I have nothing to do with.
This is unacceptable. Instead of taking responsibility for poor maintenance, they choose to shift the blame onto students. I trusted this university with my health and safety — and this is how I was treated.
What makes things worse is the attitude of one of the female staff members from the accommodation office. She constantly looks down on students with a disrespectful and arrogant attitude, as if we’re beneath her. This behavior is unprofessional and extremely frustrating — students deserve to be treated with basic respect.
I do not recommend this accommodation

I contacted the Academic Administration and Services Department (AASD) to request a copy of my academic transcript and enrollment verification. I followed the instructions and made the required payment. However, upon follow-up, I was informed that I could not obtain the transcript because I am not a graduate and my semester has lapsed, despite clearly explaining my situation twice via email beforehand.
This experience was a waste of time and incredibly frustrating. The lack of professionalism among the staff was disappointing. During a phone call, I could even hear someone loudly chatting in the background, which made the interaction feel unprofessional and disrespectful. It’s difficult to understand how an institution with such rankings can operate with such poor administrative service.

Son had his dose 1 (Pfizer) vaccine here. He was very impressed with the well organised and systematic and swift process. Crews were very helpful. We anticipated that parking spaces would not be able to handle the surge of crowds so we decided that me the mother to drive and to drop both husband and son at a nearest spot to the hall entrance. All in all, it took about 40mins for son to get vaccinated. There were very clear signages throughout the campus and leading to the entrance of vaccination hall, marshals are also around to direct both car and human traffic. Although there were many people seen heading in and out of the vaccination hall, it was all calm and organised. This campus is truly well kept and clean with greens surrounding the concrete building. There were places near the vaccination hall where you can be seated while waiting with chairs and concrete benches available. I like this campus very much and i can imagine it would be so serene and refreshing to be able to have a slow run around the #UM campus! And a thumbs up to the #Malaysia’s Ministry of Health and the team and all the frontliners for an awesome job done on the vaccination program! All your efforts are truly appreciated.

Attended microcredential classes at Menara Razak and loved the serene ambiance and stunning views from the campus. Parking at Scholar’s Inn was super convenient. A highlight was ‘He & She Coffee’ —cozy vibe, tasty snacks, and an adorable mini-library inside (perfect for post-class study sessions!). Prices were very student-friendly. Highly recommend for anyone studying or visiting UTM KL!

I am a prospective international student who had a very negative experience with UTM’s admission process. I was given an incorrect guide that instructed me to apply for my “Approval to Study” myself, rather than through the university as is required for my ODL program. As a result of this misleading information, I paid a substantial visa application fee that EMGS now says is non-refundable because UTM processed the application. I have reached out to the UTM admissions team multiple times over the past month, and even met with a representative in person, but have been met with silence and no clear resolution. The lack of accountability and communication from the university on such a critical financial matter is deeply concerning. Prospective students should be aware of this.

Hi everyone, I’m not a student of UTM I just want to inform UTM management that’s on 21.07.2025 your one of the male teacher come to our restaurant for eating something and here he saw a Waiters girl and try to talk & flirting with her, and asking her number & insta id, offering the waiters to eat with him, I don’t know the name of that person, but his age is like 35 to 40, and he show to that girl his UTM teacher card also, just to impress her, how he do like this? When that girl even don’t know him he just come and start flirting with her, wao, a big wao
I think it’s not a good for your university reputation.
I just want to say that please talk with your faculty do notShare anything or don’t use university name & university card, when my waiter’s inform me I actually want to call the Mall security for the complaint against that person but I choose to talk nicely with him & I said please get out & don’t come again here,
Disgusting,
these type of teachers you have in your university? They go out of the University and try to impress unknown girls. When they do these cheap things outside then Im pretty sure they do with their students & female colleagues also. Amazing.

I had the honorable opportunity to visit this beautiful and vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur for the first time in my life, last year during December, for roughly a week.
During my visit, I travelled mostly via the monorail, which was especially convinent as my hotel was a short walk away from Bukit Nanas. Anyways, I saw a concerning amount of cosplayers in the monorail*, and especially malls (and the twin towers even!)
My brain was left pondering, where and how do cosplayers in such a large quantity exist? Turns out, most of them graduate from goon international college.
While I’m unable to attend this prestigious college due to my financial situation, I am glad this college exists. It cleared my mind, as I could rest easy, knowing the answer to where all these cosplayers come from. As I finally knew they came from goon international college, I felt a sense of pesve, security and safety, knowing what some people would claim as a waste of time and money (cosplaying), will continue and grow in size in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur.

Honestly, this has been such a frustrating experience. The current parking situation is unacceptable. It seems the university has deliberately undersupplied vehicle passes in order to monetise the new building. But if the new building is filled with cars, where are the rest of the students supposed to park? It feels like the university’s priority is profit, not student welfare, and students are left to suffer because of problems that could easily be solved.
On top of that, the university constantly encourages students to speak English, yet their official online announcements are filled with grammatical mistakes. It’s honestly a joke and reflects poorly on the institution’s credibility.

The university’s reputation suggests a focus on delivering skills and knowledge valued by industry, which is a significant advantage for those seeking career readiness. Many seem to appreciate the reasonable tuition fees compared to other institutions.
However, reported issues regarding student safety and communication effectiveness are concerning. Addressing these points would greatly enhance the overall student experience and ensure a more secure and supportive learning environment.

Seriously? The first call gives the first impression, and if the service isn’t good, it really makes us think two or three times about dealing with this kind of management. After reading the reviews, I understood oh… not surprised.
Thank you, but just a reminder as fellow human beings — there’s nothing wrong with treating us kindly when we’re simply trying to get information before applying to this private college. TQ ☺️

Jika Puan marah kerana ingin mendidik Puan SALAH sekali lagi. Terutama yg baru pertama kali mengikut kelas puan.

UPNM was once my dream. I grew up wanting to serve the country, wearing the uniform with pride. But after what happened to Zulfarhan, I lost faith. If someone like him could be tortured and killed by his own friends — and the system took YEARS to act — then what does that say about the values this place stands for? I’d rather stay a civilian with a 9-to-5 job than risk my life in a place that protects silence more than justice.
Kalau pihak UPNM delete review ni, kami tahu anda sembunyikan salah.

honestly speaking, UGM wasn’t even on my list yet here i am but even so UGM has this chill vibes instead of those stressful ones. i love how their learning environment is peaceful and they have a lot of supportive lecturers and staffs.
the hostel they’ve provided (teratai residence) has a very nice pool, it’s small however it’s just right. they also have a gym which made me implement a new routine. the night view from above is just gorgeous, it’s one of those view where you have a nice cup of coffee or tea on the side and enjoy the scenery. watching the KL nightlife from above.

Even though UGM wasn’t my first choice, I’m really grateful to be pursuing my studies here. I received a scholarship that not only covers my tuition fees, but also helps ease a lot of the financial burden, which has been such a blessing.
The facilities are great too — I always study in the air-conditioned halls, haha! The lecturers are incredibly caring and approachable; they teach us thoroughly and are always willing to help.
And I have to say, the hostel is really comfortable. I haven’t had to worry about any issues at all. Once again, I’m really glad to be a part of this UGM.

As one of the scholarship students studying for a diploma in pharmacy, my experience at this university is great. This university offers a variety of programs, from architecture, beauty, and early childhood education to medical assistant and pharmacy. These are the main ones that I look out for before applying. The area is spacious for students; there are a lot of restaurants in the area. It’s convenient for us. There’s also a bunch of Sabahans & Sarawakians in here, so I don’t have to worry about not having any friends to be comfortable with.
The learning experience is based on my course; the lecturers are friendly, especially our core subject lecturers. They genuinely help us to do well in our studies, although their help is not enough if the students are not willing to give the same effort. Most of the lectures are helpful, and what they taught us, they will explain in detail and make sure we know what we are learning.
The assignment, oh, the assignment is so challenging and piled up, but it’s a great lesson for us to manage our time, especially group assignments where we have to learn to tolerate each other and build strong teamwork. It is a training ground for us before we jump into the working world.
We also have a bunch of activities & programs. It is not just learning; we get to build our own ‘jati diri’ in here. Camps, seminars, events, and even sports activities.
For the hostel & accommodation, the university provided a bus for the students; we only have to be aware of when the bus arrives and the bus voting. The bus trip from university to our hostel and vice versa.
Our hostel is spacious, but you have to learn to live with roommates. There’s also a swimming pool and gym. It’s a bit hot there, so better bring your fan just in case.
Scholarship benefits I am a scholarship student, as I mention in the early part of my review. The most benefit that I got is being free from financial burden because my scholarship covers my fees, hostel fees, and other costs. I only need to focus on studying and reach my points, doing my best. It helped me so much, and my parents too; they do not have to worry about me too much.
Overall, it’s a experience. I love my lectures and my friends. They help me a lot in a way, and they guide me to do better.

Happen to drop by the IMU Mamak corner this morning. The entire nasi lemak is so cold, a cold breakfast will never shine up the start of your work day, restaurant is kind of dark due to the sunlight is blocking by trees and no light is turned on. Teh ais is super crazy sweet to improve blood sugar level for diabetes. Mosquitoes are crazy a lot. I think the management of IMU should experience it yourself. #NoTurningBack

On June 12, 2025, around 6:05pm, I discovered a flat tire on my car while with my daughter.
I sought help from the security guard at the visitor carpark, who promptly contacted his supervisor, En. Wan. En. Wan quickly arrived and assisted me in changing the tire and reloading my belongings into the car. I am very grateful for their prompt and kind assistance.

Met lot of my local students also and both staff and students were very helpful. This university is equipped with state of the art lecture theatres to everything an aspiring graduate needed. Visited their simulation laboratory and anatomy department which was very fascinating. Premises is full air conditioned, clean and well kept. Cafeteria at the ground floor was amazing as well. IMU Marketing & Enrolment / Admission Office is totally inefficient, not answering calls, not responding to mails, and not knowing what they are doing. How can a university that prides itself on education fail to educate its own staff? What kind of image does that project?
